It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving

Food shortage is a recurrent problem in some parts of Ethiopia. This year it was exacerbated by severe drought and crop loss in the area. On top of that, extremely high inflation hit the country due to the ongoing war in Ethiopia. The cumulative effect has worsened the life of the people. After realizing the imminent famine in several villages, Light of life international ministry provided food aid for the poorest of the villages. First, extremely poor families were identified and registered. Then cereal grains and vegetable oil were bought and distributed to the needy ones. In three different villages in the Oromia region, 187 families received food aid, which the Light of life international ministry provided. Food aid: (a) Lack of rain (drought) affected the people and their cattle
Famine caused by the lack of sufficient rain has affected both the people and the cattle.

Vegetable oil and cereal grains were distributed to the poorest among the poor. For the weak and sickly people, oil and cereals were delivered to their respective residence places by going door to door. Provision of safe drinking water Access to clean drinking water is the number one infrastructural problem in rural villages. People have to travel long distances to fetch water from streams, ponds or wells. Women and children are spending most of their time collecting water and therefore children, especially girls, do not have time to go to school. To alleviate such interrelated problems, Light of life international ministry undertakes water supply projects parallel to supporting schools. Water projects are accomplished by the Light of life international ministry every year. In 2024, clean drinking water was supplied to one of the remote villages where there is shortage of water. The water well was dug manually to a depth of 46 meters. A power-driven submersible-pump was installed to pump water up to the surface. The submersible-pump is operated by electric power. However, the electric power supply in the country is not reliable. Electric blackouts happen frequently during the day and at times the blackout remains for several days or weeks. This necessitated the need for water storage. For this purpose, a water storage-tank was bought from a distributor and transported to the location. The water tank has a storage capacity of 2000 liters (= 2 m3 water). The storage tank can be filled whenever there is electric power and makes water available at times Provision of safe drinking water: (a) started serving 3000 people Picture 16: Villagers collecting water and a lady pulling a cart along with her kids. She is already carrying a baby on her back in addition to the four children behind the cart. Normally, such a cart is pulled by a donkey but since this family does not own a donkey, the women had to pull it. Yet, sheis very happy that she could get water in her village; otherwise she would have traveled longer distances to collect water for her family
